POP PUP
tENTATIVE PROJECT
TENTative is a public installation project, curated by Hilario Isola, produced by Voice Gallery and presented at the 6th Marrakech Biennale. The project consists of three tents, twenty square meters each, installed in different strategic locations throughout the entire duration of the Biennale. Each tent was designed by a different artist and it offered a new interpretation of traditional temporary dwellings: the audience was allowed to interact with all the pieces and use them in the way they thought was more appropriate.
Our project is an adaptation of a traditional Pup Tent to the context of a city. Pup Tents are cozy tiny spaces, minimal in material and plain in colors. Often used to move our first steps into nature, they are small interiors with a powerful force affecting the wilderness that surrounds them.
The Pop Pup Tent it’s a scaled up version designed to confront the urban fabric. Its basic module is made of a hacked industrial aluminum ladder covered with colorful woven plastic mats. Pop Pup can be arranged in different configurations to respond to the stimulations of the site. The audience will be able to interact with the tent by rolling up and down the mat and deciding the level of privacy they want to keep in the interior space. Pop Pup is a public intimacy container done in rub-a-dub style.

TENTative(텐트어티브)는 제 6회 마라케시 비엔날레에서 선보인 공공 설치물 프로젝트로 힐라리오 이솔라가 큐레이션 하고 보이스 갤러리에서 제작하였다. 이 프로젝트는 3개의 텐트(각 20 제곱미터)로 구성되었고 비엔날레 기간 내내 서로 다른 전략적 위치에 설치되었다. 텐트별로 각각 다른 예술가가 디자인하였고 전통적인 임시 주거지에 대한 새로운 해석을 제공했다. 관객은 모든 작품과 상호작용이 가능했으며 자신이 더 적절하다고 생각하는 방식으로 사용할 수 있었다.
우리의 프로젝트는 도시의 상황에 맞게 전통적인 A형 텐트(pup tent)를 변형한 것이다. A형 텐트는 보통 작고 아늑한 공간을 제공해주며 최소한의 재료와 특색없는 색상을 사용한다. 우리의 첫 발걸음을 자연으로 옮기는 데 자주 사용되는이 구조물은 주변을 둘러싼 광야에 영향을 미치는 강력한 힘을 가진 작은 실내공간이다.
팝펍텐트는 도시구조와 대면할 수 있도록 한 단계 더 나아간 버전이다. 변형된 알루미늄 사다리를 기본 모듈로 하여 플라스틱 섬유로 직조된 다채로운 매트가 덮여진 형태이다. 팝펍텐트는 각 부지의 자극에 반응하여 각기 다른 구성으로 배열될 수 있다. 관람객은 매트를 올리거나 내리면서 상호작용할 수 있고 이러한 행동으로 인해 텐트 내부공간의 프라이버시 정도를 조절할 수 있다. 팝펍은 rub-a-dub 스타일의 친밀한 공공 컨테이너이다.
